End closures and hip starters
The bundle count covers the run. The ends are a separate piece: a closure where a ridge stops, or a hip starter where a hip meets the eave. The buying list counts one per open end.
- Gable or shed: 2, one at each end of the straight run.
- Hip: 4, a starter at each eave. The ridge ends are covered where the hips arrive.
- Fixed L: 3. Two ends of the main ridge, plus the outer end of the wing. The inner end of the wing is a valley, not a cap.
In draw mode, a wing adds its outer end. A wing that lands on a gable end takes the place of that end closure. A 40 by 30 hip lists 4 closures. Some bundles include the starters. Read the wrapper before you add a box.
