How many feet are in a ridge cap bundle?
The estimator uses 25 linear feet per asphalt bundle. That is a common architectural hip-and-ridge coverage. It is not the only one printed on a wrapper.
- About 25 ft: the default in this tool, and a frequent architectural cap.
- About 20 ft: some three-tab and some designer bundles. The same ridge needs more bundles.
- About 31 ft: some high-coverage bundles. You buy fewer, and you still round up.
A 40 ft gable with 10% waste is 44 ft. At 25 ft per bundle that is 2 bundles. At 20 ft it is 3. At 31 ft it is still 2, because 44 ÷ 31 rounds up. Open the 40 ft gable and then check the bag before you leave the yard.
Metal is not sold this way. A metal ridge piece is 10 ft. Tile and slate are about one foot each. The material switch in the estimator changes the unit. It does not change the footage.
